ABOUT ME
My entire career, I’ve been dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion, especially within the hard- of-hearing community. I took a specific interest in this community when I realized how limited the resources for hard-of-hearing individuals were. I have since committed myself to creating and editing resources to help myself and other individuals succeed and embrace their hearing uniqueness.
I earned both my associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in psychology before completing my Master of Social Work at Gallaudet University. Prior to earning my Master of Social Work, I worked at Gallaudet in the Office of Diversity and Equity for Students, where I had the opportunity to work with students from various cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds. I then went on to work as a Behavioural Specialist at the Rhode Island School for the Deaf and as the Assistant Director at DEAF, Inc. Both positions allowed me to continue finetuning my skillset and develop as a leader and resource for the hard of hearing community.
Since 2018, I have been working as a Behaviour Health Clinician in Perspective Corporation’s Deaf and Hard of Hearing department. Perspective is a private agency that focuses on empowering individuals and teaching them the necessary skills to be as independent as possible. In my role, I support hard of hearing individuals in working through their behavioural health goals and conducted monthly.
expressive art classes which allow individuals to express their thoughts and feelings through various mediums. I often find that sometimes language isn’t enough when it comes to individuals expressing themselves internally, therefore I encourage them to explore other methods of communication such as utilizing art.
